The Thematic Social Forum “Capitalist Crisis, Social and Environmental Justice,” which takes place from 24th to 29th January 2012 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, is quickly approaching.
In face of the worsening of the capitalist global crisis, which increasingly penalizes the working class with the adoption of austerity measures that means unemployment, wage cuts, withdrawal rights, increased poverty and more violence, we would like to take this occasion to:
– Reaffirm our common axes of struggle, set in our last Social Movements Assembly (held in Dakar, Senegal, in January 2011):
Against transnational corporations
For climate justice and food sovereignty.
Against violence against women
For peace and against war, colonialism, occupations and the militarization of our lands
– Build our common calendar of struggles for 2012
– Launch the Free Palestine Social Forum (to be held in late November 2012).
For this, we will organize on the Saturday, 28th January, an Social Movements Assembly.
With this message, we would like to ask you who is already planning to come to Porto Alegre so we can advance in its preparation. Further detailed information will be sent soon in January.
